Support groups

We have collected the support groups that we are aware of for adopted adults, teenagers and birth families and relatives. These will change so please use them as a guide and contact the hosting organisation to confirm up to date information. Please send any additions and amendments using this Microsoft Form.

For adopted people

PAC-UK

Monthly online support group open to all adopted adults and facilitated by adopted professionals. Email advice@pac-uk-org

Adopt South East

Online and in person groups for adopted adults resident in Brighton and Hove City, East Sussex, Surrey and West Sussex. Facilitated by adoptee counsellors from PAC-UK. Email advice@pac-uk-org

How To Be Adopted North London peer support group

Run by How To Be Adopted, we meet on or around the last Friday of the month at lunchtime in East Finchley. Email hello@howtobeadopted.com for more info.

Adopted adult support group run by Adopt North London

If you live in, or were adopted in, Hackney, Islington, Barnet, Islington, Haringey or Camden. Call 020 7527 4777 or email north@adoptlondon.org.uk.

Transracial Adult Adoptee Network (TAAN) group

Network and support group for transracial adult adoptees, meeting in person in London (Angel) six times a year. Email adoptionsupportduty@islington.gov.uk.

Adoption Connections North West

Run by Gilli Bruce. Currently held via Zoom and open to anyone, not just those in the North West. They meet on the third Thursday of the month at 12.30pm. Email postadoption@adoptionmatters.org.

Adopt London South

Currently online, moving to face-to-face in Southwark. The group meets on Tuesday at 7pm. Contact: Natalie.bendall@southwark.gov.uk.

Group for Korean adoptees

Monthly lunch together in London, open to all Korean adoptees, not just British ones. For more information email britishkoreanadoptees@gmail.com.

Adoption UK

There are two monthly groups for adoptees, email membership@adoptionuk.org.uk.

The Adoption Support Group

Open to adoptees over 18, birth relatives and adoptive relatives. Facilitated by an adoptee and a birth mother. Meetings take place every other month either online or in Milton Keynes. Email jan.shine@hotmail.co.uk.

Adoption UK Wales

Group for adopted people age 18-25. This group meets a few times a year either online or in person. To find out more, email Ann.Bell@adoptionuk.org.uk.

For under 18s

Adopteens in Yorkshire and Humber (age 11-18+)

Open to anyone aged between 11 -18+ who lives in Yorkshire or Humber. For more info, see the Adopteens website.

Adopt Central England

Young adopted people’s support groups in Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Email enquiries@aceadoption.com.

The Adoptables

The Adoptables are a group of young people aged 11 to 16, from Bexley, Kent and Medway. Email vsk_adoptionparticipation@kent.gov.uk.

Adopt Tees Valley

Monthly social group for adopted young people aged eight or above. Call 01642 526400.

Birth parents

PAC-UK

  1. “Relinquishing birth mothers group” for older birth mothers held monthly in Leeds. Email advice@pac-uk.org.
  2. PAC-UK holds monthly support groups for parents and relatives whose children have been adopted and are under 18 or younger adults in Leeds, London, Manchester, Wigan, Hull and Sheffield and online. advice@pac-uk.org
